Juliana has nearly 4 years’ experience working in Research and Development Tax Credits. During that time, she has saved clients over 25 million dollars in tax credits. As an RTC Manager, Juliana is responsible for identifying and determining qualified research activities and expenditures that meet IRS regulations and compliance. Juliana has clients in a variety of industries including automotive, chemical, engineering, biotechnology, manufacturing and software development. In addition, she has worked with small, mid-sized and large companies. Juliana is detail-oriented, efficient and her strong scientific background allows her to work very well with extremely technical subject matter experts in the USA and Brazil.
Juliana came to BGI after working in a hospital research lab where she worked in the nanomedicine department. In this role, she developed a novel biodegradable device for the transplantation of pancreatic islets. In addition, she published three manuscripts in scientific journals and presented her work at numerous conferences. She also has experience in corrosion testing of oil field alloys in various environments, working closely with the client to assess the corrosion rates of degradable materials and anti-foam compounds. This experience has provided her with the scientific mind-set required to both analyze projects and interview highly technical experts in order to determine clients’ qualification for the R&D Tax Credit.
Juliana speaks three languages (English, Portuguese and Spanish) and has international experience with the Brazilian Credit “Lei do Bem” and the France Credit “Credit D’impot Recherche” (CIR). Juliana is also currently learning the mechanisms of the Mexico Tax Credit in order to further serve her international clients.
Juliana graduated with a B.S in Biotechnology from the University of Houston with a minor in Biology.
