As CEO of Braithwaite Global Inc. (BGI), Serge de Blois has over 28 years of experience in R&D tax credit consulting, and is a highly regarded expert in the R&D tax credit industry. With specialization in the field of R&D tax credit recovery since 1986, he has been retained by a broad range of industries across North America and Europe to assist and consult with complex tax credit recovery initiatives.
Prior to co-founding and leading the U.S. operations in March 2012, Mr. de Blois acted as President of one of BGI’s Canadian subsidiaries and assumed the role of Treasurer for the U.S. division. Before starting his own practice in 1984, Mr. de Blois was a highly regarded professional, performing senior consulting functions within the financial services group of Ernst & Whinney, CPA, which later became KPMG.
Mr. de Blois’ extensive experience includes attending and presenting at a series of conferences across North America, France and Brazil on the Federal Research Tax Credit Program. He was also invited to be a part of the development of government initiatives to finance Research Tax Credits for small and medium-size businesses.
As an industry leader, he has published several technical papers and studies focusing on various funding methods for R&D projects, and has personally developed a Policy and Guidelines Paper on the Stacking of Government Assistance for various Federal departments. One of his career highlights includes taking part in the development of financing structures for the North American version of a major European Union Eureka R&D project.
Mr. de Blois specializes in technical and financial eligibility assessment for both national and international R&D tax credit programs. In 2011, he published an extensive comparative analysis of the research tax credit programs of Brazil, Canada, France, Ireland, United Kingdom and the United States. Mr. de Blois has played a key role on several international acquisitions and he is a highly recognized leading expert in the field of international research fiscal incentives.
Serge holds a B.Sc. Degree in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Montreal.
